HUD Refunds have been around for quite a while. I made the mistake of purchasing a package about 15 years ago to process HUD Refunds. Here is how it HUD Refunds work. Many people have purchased HUD homes, which is a part of the US government. There are refunds that people get when their home loan is completed, then HUD will issue them a check. However, many people move out of state and can't be found. HUD makes a general effort to find them, but if not, their refund is held in HUD department until they are located. Companies advertise in magazines about a business opportunity that people can run out of their homes by by finding people owed HUD Refunds. They want you to buy their course for $30 or $40 and they will show you where to get a list of people who have HUD Refunds but can't be located. So your job is to find them and inform them they have money due, and for a fee you will disclose to them where they can claim this money owed. There are two major problems with this. First, unless you have a lot of time and investigative skills, it will be hard to find these people. Secondly, once you find them and get them to sign a 50% finders fee agreement (as advertised in the course you purchased) - good luck on getting them to pay. Many people aren't going to give up half of their HUD Refunds just for you telling them about it. Once they receive their HUD check and decide not to give you your half are you going to sue them? Good luck again. I think you are just going to waste a lot of time for nothing on this type of deal. Plus, many HUD Refunds are for just a few hundred dollars.
